Gravity Kings. July 9th

While Jen was circumnavigating the Fraser Valley on a single speed,

we opted for the “lift-assisted” version. Trestle Bike Park.

Per safety regs, it all starts with a mandatory trip down Green World. That’s a 5 mile “downhill” route meant for novice riders. Problem is…. There’s a lil bit of uphill. Pedaling a 35 pound bike up anything is hard. Add 10,000+ altitude and there’s gonna be some gasping, snorting, and general doubt about one’s will to go on.
With that, Shy Ann is next and a good intro to the intermittent weightlessness of DH MTB. Lower long trail is another flow fav.

Eventually, we arrive at the vaunted Jury Duty / Boot Camp combo. The “trails” don’t really promote a lot of casual photo ops so pix wil have to wait. As one astute observer said, “the longest, scariest ramp” he’s ever seen. It’s an easy roll, just about 15 feet off the hillside so that any nav error is met with a bit of a drop.
Kai’s post ride irrational exuberance spoke volumes. Being geographically separated from all your buddies can be disconcerting for a 13 year old. And at times, it shows. Varying degrees of weirdness in mood is so easily repaired with regular doses of exertion and adrenaline.

Note to self:

Male Kidds are 86% physicality. Bring it on Zombie Ninjas!
